How to Obtain a Septic Tank Permit in Hillsborough County, Florida

Environmental Health Services (Florida Department of Health) Hillsborough County is tasked with the issuance of new septic tank permits.

If you want a septic tank permit in Hillsborough County (FL), first fill out and submit an application form. Along with the application form, applicants must also submit a site plan and a building plan.

Before the septic tank permit can be issued, a site inspection is required. The department of Health Hillsborough can conduct the site inspection for a fee if you want. Alternately, you can have the inspection done without involving the Department of Health. If you decide to do that, you must get the inspection done by a Florida-licensed engineer, a licensed septic tank contractor, a Florida-licensed soil scientist, or any person certified to perform a site inspection.

If you want the Department of Health to perform the site inspection, you will be charged a fee of $425. If additional inspection(s) is required, you will have to pay extra. The cost of every additional inspection fee is $50.

You can submit your application at the Environmental Health Services office in person or by email or fax.
